As the name implies, Crowley Custom Calls is a custom call maker. Inspired by turkey hunting and turkey calling, Edward Crowley decided to experiment with different calls. First with wing bone calls and then with other calls including tube, wood and slate calls.
Every Call is individual and no two are alike. Calls are made with the available material on hand at the time. For instance, I recently obtained an aluminum sheet and made a number of calls with it. The Palm Pot, in the present inventory is made from that piece of aluminum and when that piece is exhausted, I will no longer make that particular call. Another example of limited calls from limited supplies is the red cedar that I currently have on hand is softer immature wood and therefore much softer sound than aged cedar. This supply of wood came from a particular source and that supply will also diminish over time over a short time and I will therefore resort to another source of wood. Some supplies and materials will be consistent as I do get particular items from call maker supplies outfits.
Having a small inventory of items on hand, we also make custom calls specifically for customers. Therefore, send in your wing bone sets with specifications of what you would like. Let me know if you’d like to see simple scrimshaw (I’m not so skilled to be able to draw elaborate images), painted images, leather wraps, thread wrapped and what color. If you would like a scripture from the Bible , a note or inscription, let me know also. I also make turtle shell calls, so if you find a turtle shell in your wanderings of the woods, we can create a custom call with a piece of slate and a specialty design for you. And as always, I’m experimenting and always playing and therefore might have different and new calls when you return to the site.
Crowley Custom Calls is not existence to make money, but rather to pass on turkey calling and hunting to others in the hope of preserving a rugged pioneering aspect of our American heritage, to share an incredible love and great passion and lastly, to infect others with the sickness known as turkey fever that turkey hunters go through every spring. I do trade calls and make negotiations with my calls in exchange for your first born or a day on your lease or hunting land.
